Broome Family & Domestic Violence Refuge

No one should feel unsafe in their home or relationship.

If either you, your children, or someone you know is experiencing family and domestic violence (FDV), please know that no one needs to face this alone. We provide support that will help people break free, begin the healing process, and rebuild all while being in a safe environment.

The Broome FDV Refuge provides crisis support and accommodation for women and children facing violence. Our service offers a safe space along with personalised case management to support people throughout this time.

During your stay at the Broome FDV Refuge, you can expect:

  • A welcoming, safe environment where people will feel supported.

  • Parenting resources and guidance, tailored to individual needs.

  • Warm referrals to essential services and longer-term accommodation.

  • Assistance with accessing Centrelink services.

  • Focused health and wellbeing support.

Refuge FAQs

While referrals are welcome, any woman and her child/children can present to the Refuge for support when they are experiencing violence.

Please bring an ID and other personal details if possible. Otherwise, presenting at the Refuge without these items is okay as our priority is the person’s safety.

Our friendly staff will complete an assessment that will determine what kind of support the person needs. We understand that sharing this story will be difficult, our staff are highly trained and want to help everyone always feel safe.

Unfortunately, we don’t accept pets at this time.

People are welcome to stay at our Refuge for up to two weeks. We will assist clients with finding longer-term accommodation during their stay with us.

Safety is our top priority. We are staffed 24/7 and have a security guard on site between the hours of 8pm and 6am every night. The refuge is also fitted with security cameras, alarms, and lighting.

Yes, clients have their own private room at the Refuge. We want to ensure people feel as comfortable as possible, with privacy being very important part of their stay.

All personal information will remain between the client and the staff at the Refuge unless we feel a person is a risk to their own safety or the safety of others. Please note that we do report de-identified data for funding purposes.

Clients will receive support in the form of safe and secure accommodation, as well as access to referrals and safety planning.

This journey doesn’t have to be yours to carry alone.
