Youth voice to help shape MercyCare

“As professionals in this space we understand practice, but young people know what they need from service providers and how they want it delivered. We need to be invested in this and aware of their viewpoint to develop the most effective services that truly support young people,” MercyCare Youth Wellbeing and Accommodation General Manager Suzanne Caren said.

“The group will enhance and solidify youth voice, opinions and expertise across policy, service design, organisational direction and strategic planning.”

Young people with lived experience across Disabilities, Out of Home Care, Fostering, Multicultural Services and Youth Wellbeing and Accommodation are encouraged to apply via Expression of Interest by September.

Once appointed the group’s first task will be to design the group itself – how it will function and what areas they need to be consulted on to be impactful.

“Young people know what they want and their voices and expertise are important now more than ever,” Suzanne said.

“We are looking forward to the development of this group and our ongoing partnership with the Youth Affairs Council of WA.”
