Life doesn’t stop over the school holidays, so why should everything else?

We’ve all heard the saying “it takes a village to raise a child” but today’s modern world can sometimes leave parents wondering 'where is my village?'

The Warriapendi Child and Parent Centre provides a welcoming place for mums, dads and carers to seek out their village.

The centre opened on January 7 and will continue to welcome families every weekday in the lead up to the new school year, with special school holiday activities starting from January 14.

Located at Warriapendi Primary School in Balga, the centre is designed to connect families to the community they live in and the support services available to them.

MercyCare’s Child, Family and Out of Home Care Services Senior Practitioner Davina Goldthorpe said the main aim was to make sure that by the time children get to kindy and pre-primary, they are ready for the start of school.

Regular playgroup sessions and other term-based activities will resume when school starts on February 4 but families can drop in weekdays over the holidays anytime between 9am and 4pm.
